Igwe was, on the eve of the Presidential and National Assembly elections arrested and subsequently arraigned for being in possession of four hundred and ninety-eight thousand dollars in cash but was granted bail a few weeks after.
Today FM Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that when the matter resumed in court for proper trial, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Zachhaeus Adangor, announced the withdrawal of the suit without giving any reason for the withdrawal.
The trial Judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam,subsequently discharged Chinyere Igwe and ordered the police to return his international passport and other exhibits to the former lawmaker.
