Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fubara announced his defection on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Speaking at the meeting, the governor said his decision to leave the PDP was driven by his desire to support President Bola Tinubu of the APC. He credited the President’s backing for his political survival, stating that without Tinubu’s support, he would have ended his tenure as a former governor.
The defection marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Rivers State and is expected to have far-reaching implications for party politics in the state and the South-South region.
