Rivers Government Denies Owing Nigerian Legion Outstanding Donations

The Rivers State Government says it has no outstanding financial obligation to the Nigerian Legion over donations or pledges made by the state.

In a statement signed by the Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Juliana Masi, the government said it had consistently supported the Nigerian Legion and remained committed to the welfare of ex-servicemen, veterans, widows and families of fallen heroes.

The statement said Governor Siminalayi Fubara had fully redeemed the pledge he made during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration.

The state government therefore urged members of the public to disregard claims that it was indebted to the Nigerian Legion over donations or other commitments.

The government also commended veterans for their service and honoured the sacrifices of fallen heroes and their contributions to the nation.
