Rivers CSOs Accuse RSIEC of Recruiting Impostors Ahead of LG Elections

The Rivers State Civil Society Organisations (RIVCSOs) has accused the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) of recruiting impostors to pose as civil society members in order to legitimize the forthcoming local government elections.

Chairman of RIVCSOs, Enefa Georgewill, alleged that politicians have consistently created groups masquerading as civil society organisations to validate what he described as an “illegal process.”

He stated that the current composition of RSIEC lacks the legitimacy to invite or engage with genuine civil society groups in Rivers State.

Georgewill urged residents to remain calm and go about their normal activities, while also calling on them to boycott the upcoming polls.
