Rivers Assembly Lawmakers Call for Peace Amid Fresh Impeachment Move Against Governor Fubara

Two members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have called for calm and dialogue following the renewed impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy.

The lawmakers are Sylvanus Nwankwo, representing Omuma Constituency and Minority Leader of the House, and Peter Abbey, who represents Degema Constituency.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Nwankwo urged his colleagues in the Assembly and other political stakeholders to exercise restraint and embrace dialogue in addressing the issues surrounding the impeachment process.

He stressed that there is a need for leniency and understanding, whether or not the governor is found to have erred, noting that peace and stability in Rivers State should remain paramount.

The lawmakers emphasized that political disagreements should be resolved through consultation and democratic engagement rather than actions that could heighten tension in the state.
