The members of the House also mandated the House Committee on Petition to investigate all those suspended and ensure that fair hearing is given to them.
The newly-elected Speaker, Edison Ehie, who addressed newsmen inside the Government House after a sitting, commended the members for the confidence reposed on him to lead and promised not to disappoint them and the people of Rivers State.
Ehie who disclosed that twenty-six members sat and elected him as the new Speaker, promised to ensure the independence of the lawmakers for the benefit of Rivers people.
Earlier, twenty-four members of Rivers State House of Assembly suspended the leader of the house, Edison Ehie.
Today FM’S Uchendu Ejiowhor, who was at the Assembly ground, reports that the House also suspended six other members including the House of Assembly members for Opobo-Nkoro, Degema, Bonny.
