In a statement, Reuters said its six-person team was staying in Hotel Sapphire in Kramatorsk, a city under Ukrainian control but not far from the eastern front line, when it was hit by an apparent missile strike.

It said two members of the team had been taken to hospital, with three accounted for, but was “urgently seeking more information” on the whereabouts of a sixth person.

Ukrainian authorities said it was a Russian missile, but Russia has yet to comment on the strike.

The news agency released footage showing parts of the hotel completely destroyed by the strike, with firefighters attempting to pick through the rubble.
