Speaking as a member of the Labour Party, Umezurike emphasized that the upcoming election is critical for the “Obedient Movement” and a vital stepping stone as the party gears up for the 2027 general elections.

Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt, Umezurike called on all residents of Rivers State to actively participate in the electoral process, stating that Governor Fubara has assured him that every vote will count.

As the only Labour Party candidate elected in the last elections in the state, Umezurike said he is “Simplified” and noted that true members of the Obedient Movement share this sentiment, united by good governance, as exemplified by Governor Fubara’s leadership.

In his remarks, the Labour Party National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Favor Reuben, urged Rivers State residents to vote for the Labour Party, as it is the only party capable of delivering effective leadership, while also expressing confidence on the ability of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), to conduct a credible election.

Also speaking, the Leader of the Obedient Movement in Rivers State, Francis Matthew, highlighted the importance of the local government elections in laying the foundation for the Labour Party’s broader goal of delivering good governance, stressing that people-oriented candidates must be elected, particularly in key positions within the Port Harcourt Local Government Area.
