The Peoples Redemption Party has criticised continued spending in the power sector without corresponding improvement in electricity supply across the country. The Chairman of the party in Rivers State, Nature Dumale-Kieghe, said the trend reflects what he described as a pattern of insensitivity by successive administrations.
Speaking in an interview, Dumale-Kieghe noted that despite promises by President Bola Tinubu to ensure stable electricity within his first term, many Nigerians still experience erratic power supply. He added that the current administration has yet to demonstrate sufficient commitment to addressing the situation, stressing that businesses and households continue to rely heavily on alternative energy sources.
The PRP chairman also called on the Federal Government to tackle alleged corruption and inefficiencies in the electricity sector. He urged authorities to strengthen oversight mechanisms, improve infrastructure and ensure that funds allocated to the sector translate into measurable improvements in power generation and distribution.
