President MUHAMMADU BUHARI is set to depart Nigeria today for another round of overseas travel.
This time, President BUHARI will be traveling to Equatorial Guinea for a meeting with President OBIANG NGUEMA MBASOGO.
Both leaders are expected to hold talks in the capital, Malabo, to discuss further measures to protect the people and resources of the Niger Delta and the Gulf of Guinea.The meeting would also feature the conclusion and signing of an agreement by Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea for the establishment of a combined maritime policing and security patrol committee.BUHARI and MBASOGO are also to discuss and agree on other collaborative measures to combat sea piracy, crude oil theft, attacks on oil rigs, arms smuggling and human trafficking in the Gulf of Guinea.The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, FEMI ADESINA, said the visit is in continuation of the Federal Government’s efforts to achieve greater security of lives, resources and investments in all parts of Nigeria.
