Our correspondent reports that trouble started when a team of policemen stormed Rumuolumeni waterfront where Governor NYESOM WIKE recently led security operatives to demolish suspected criminal hideout in the area.
The policemen allegedly beat up some women who were selling their food and other petty items to company workers in the area, before the soldiers intervened to protect the traders.
A source who claimed to have witnessed the incident but pleaded not to reveal his identity, confirmed the development to our correspondent.
The clashes between soldiers and the police at Eagle Cement have since ended following the intervention of the Rumuolumeni Divisional Police Officer.
