The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has called on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) to adhere to the 30-day repair timeline following the recent shutdown of the Port Harcourt Refinery for maintenance.
In an interview with our correspondent, PETROAN’s National Public Relations Officer, Dr. Joseph Obele, stressed that strict compliance with the 30-day schedule is crucial to minimize disruptions in petroleum product supply across the country.
Dr. Obele expressed surprise that a refinery, which was only commissioned just six months ago, is already being shut down for maintenance. He emphasized that Nigerians deserve transparency regarding the true state of the country’s refineries.
Furthermore, PETROAN called for the establishment of a dedicated task force to monitor and oversee activities at the Port Harcourt Refining Company. Such a body, according to Obele, would help promote transparency, efficiency, and adherence to industry standards during the maintenance process.
