Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has pledged to ensure the establishment of primary healthcare centres in all 8,000 wards across Nigeria if elected president.
Obi made the promise while outlining his plans for the health sector, stressing that access to basic healthcare remains a critical need for millions of Nigerians, especially those in rural communities. He said strengthening primary healthcare would help reduce pressure on major hospitals and improve early treatment and disease prevention across the country.
The former Anambra State governor said his administration would prioritise investments in healthcare infrastructure, manpower and essential medical services, describing accessible healthcare as a key part of national development and improved living standards.
