Over 110,000 Registered in Rivers Health Protection Scheme

The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme says it has registered more than 110,000 persons under its health insurance scheme.

Chairman of the Board, Professor Princewill Chike, disclosed this at the end of the programme’s inaugural retreat and board meeting. He explained that the team is currently working on unbundling secondary healthcare to expand access and improve service delivery across the state.

Professor Chike also appealed to the 23 local government chairmen in Rivers State to mobilize residents in their areas to enroll in the scheme, stressing that broader participation would guarantee affordable and sustainable healthcare for more citizens.

Among those present at the retreat were the Executive Secretary of the programme, Dr. Vetty Agala, and board member Victor Nwokpo.

The initiative is part of efforts by the state government to strengthen healthcare delivery and provide protection against out-of-pocket medical expenses for residents.
