One Assistant Inspector-General of Police and three Commissioners of Police have been redeployed to Rivers State, ahead of the re-run elections next Saturday.The redeployment is based on the orders of the Inspector General of Police, SOLOMON ARASE, as each of the three Commissioners of Police will take charge each of the three Senatorial Districts of the state.The CPs are to work under the direct supervision of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone Six, Calabar, BABA ADISA BOLANTA.Also; the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, SONTOYE WAKAMA, is expected to arrive in Port Harcourt to hold meetings with political stakeholders and police officers in the State Command on the need for peaceful conduct before, during and after the elections.According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, KOLAWOLE OLABISI, some six thousand conventional policemen and fourteen units of Police Mobile Force personnel have also been mobilized to assist personnel of the Rivers State Command during the elections.The Force spokesman said I.G.P. ARASE warned police personnel involved in election duties to remain apolitical and professional.He assured the electorate in Rivers State of a secured environment to exercise their franchise.
