Ogoni Youth Federation Urges Support for Resumption of Oil Exploration in Ogoniland

The Ogoni Youth Federation has called on the people of Ogoni to support efforts by the Federal Government to resume oil exploration activities in Ogoniland. President General of the group, Legborsi Yamabanna, made the appeal shortly after receiving two leadership awards from the Council of African Youths and Forward News Media.

Yamabanna expressed concern over the high levels of poverty in Ogoniland despite the abundance of natural resources in the region. He emphasized that the resumption of oil exploration, if properly managed, could unlock economic opportunities and bring much-needed development to the area.

Yamabanna, who also serves as the Chairman of the Niger Delta Ethnic Youth Coalition, said the recognition would further motivate him to continue advocating for the progress and development of Ogoniland.

Speaking at the award presentation, Yakubu Yahana, representing the Council of African Youths, described Yamabanna as a role model for young Africans. Similarly, Vivian Okafar, publisher of Forward News Media, hailed Yamabanna as a beacon of hope for youths, praising his commitment to positive change.

Members of the Council of African Youths are drawn from Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria, while Forward News Media is based in Delta State.
