Ogoni Leader Exonerates Ledum Mitee, Backs FG’s Plan to Resume Oil Production

The Leader of the Conscience of Ogoni People, Gani Topba, has absolved a former President of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), Ledum Mitee, of any involvement in the crisis currently affecting the organisation’s leadership.

Topba stated that Mitee has consistently made positive contributions to the development and progress of Ogoniland, describing him as a committed advocate of the Ogoni cause.

He described the Federal Government’s plan to resume oil production in Ogoniland as a well-intended initiative aimed at improving the welfare of the people, if properly managed.

The Ogoni leader also commended the Federal Government delegation led by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for visiting Ogoniland to assess ongoing confidence-building projects and engage with stakeholders.

According to Topba, the people of Ogoni have agreed that oil production should resume in the area, subject to conditions already presented to the Federal Government to ensure that the interests and wellbeing of the communities are protected.
