Super Eagles defender, Chibuike Nwaiwu, has welcomed his first child ahead of Nigeria’s Unity Cup final clash against Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz.
Turkish club, Trabzonspor, confirmed the birth of the player’s baby girl, named Jacinta, in a statement congratulating the defender and his wife, Melissa.
The development comes as a major personal boost for the twenty-two-year-old ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated Unity Cup final.
Nwaiwu featured in Nigeria’s two-nil victory over Zimbabwe in the semi-final of the competition, where he partnered Igoh Ogbu in central defence.
The former Enyimba defender is expected to retain his place in the starting line-up as the Super Eagles prepare to face Jamaica in the final at The Valley.
Nwaiwu has enjoyed a rapid rise in European football since leaving the Nigeria Professional Football League in 2024.
After helping Austrian side Wolfsberger AC win the Austrian Cup, the defender secured a move to Turkish side Trabzonspor, where he also contributed to the club’s third-place finish and Turkish Cup triumph this season.
