NLNG Launches Vocational, Innovation, Business and Enterprise Scheme to Empower Youth

The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) has officially launched a new skill acquisition initiative called the Vocational, Innovation, Business and Enterprise Scheme (VIBES), aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and empowering youth within NLNG’s host communities.

During the launch event, NLNG’s External Relations and Sustainable Development Manager, Dr. Sophia Horsfall, addressed attendees, highlighting that the program is designed to build local capacity and equip individuals to become catalysts for sustainable change in their communities. Dr. Horsfall was represented at the event by Charles Epelle, the Manager of Community Relations and Sustainable Development.

Chinyere Anukurum, NLNG’s Head of Sustainable Development, emphasized that the VIBES scheme has been thoughtfully designed to reflect current global trends and realities, ensuring that it meets the needs of the community effectively.

Participants who previously benefited from NLNG’s empowerment programs shared their inspiring success stories, illustrating the positive impact of such initiatives.

According to reports, the VIBES scheme offers a diverse range of skills training, including advanced welding, automotive training, catering and hotel management, agriculture and farm management, carpentry and woodwork, fashion design and cosmetology, ICT, as well as photography and video production.

This initiative marks a significant step by NLNG in its ongoing commitment to fostering sustainable development and economic empowerment in its host communities.
