Nigeria’s immediate-past president, GOODLUCK JONATHAN has hailed the successful conduct of elections in Benin Republic.

JONATHAN said he followed the elections in the neighbouring country very closely, and feels very impressed with the orderly conducted those polls.
He said the administration of outgoing President BONI YAYI deserves commendation for providing the leadership that led to this outcome of the elections, which have been adjudged peaceful, credible and transparent by local and international observers.JONATHAN also congratulated the people of the Republic of Benin for their role in the election and for showing the world that they have come of age in the practice of democracy.He also praised the outgoing Prime Minister, LIONEL ZINSOU, who was the ruling party’s candidate for President, for his exemplary conduct of conceding defeat and congratulating the winner, PATRICE TALON, on his victory at the polls.The former President of Nigeria said such gesture by the Prime Minister is rare and should be applauded by all statesmen as the highest display of patriotism and maturity.According to a post on Facebook, JONATHAN also congratulated the President-elect, PATRICE TALON and urged him to be magnanimous in victory and to carry all of the people of Benin along.
