The exercise holding at Defence Intelligence Agency Training School in Karu is meant to sustain the trend in modern warfare for joint operations, training and planning among members of the Armed Forces.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General GABRIEL ABAYOMI OLONISAKIN gave this indication when he declared the training open yesterday.
General OLONISAKIN pointed out that the Armed Forces of Nigeria had been involved in a number of joint operations in various parts of the country, which had recorded some level of successes in the past.
He said the Defence Headquarters reviewed some past and ongoing operations and identified some loopholes in the planning and execution of such operations.
The Chief of Defence Staff said the objectives of the Advance Joint Operations Planning Course include enhancing the understanding of participants in all the processes required for a successful mission.
Also intended for the participants is for them to understand the demands in planning and execution of joint operations.
They also meant to sharpen their skills for vertical and horizontal integration of plans during the execution of joint operations.
The message of the Defence Chief was delivered on his behalf by the Chief of Administration at the Defence Headquarters, Rear Admiral ADEBOWALE DACOSTA.
