The Special Adviser to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, ABIKE DABIRI-EREWA, gave the charge in response to multiple distress calls from Nigerian students in India who are concerned about their safety as a result of renewed attacks.
In a statement in Abuja, DABIRI-EREWA, said while government condemns the mob action against Nigerian students, the Indian authorities have responded to the situation and five suspects are already in custody.
DABIRI-EREWA noted that although the situation was calm at the moment, the Indian government has a responsibility to protect Nigerian students in that country who are going about their normal duties.
She urged the Indian government to ensure that the suspects should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
The Presidential aide further disclosed that the Chargé d’Affaires in India, QUEEN WORLU has visited the scene of the incident and also visited the three patients in hospital.
She gave the names of the victims in hospital as PRECIOUS and ENDURANCE AMALAWA, who are brothers, and CHUKWUMA IGBOAMALU.
The former federal lawmaker also confirmed receiving information about the attack on nine Nigerians at Noida International University in India.
