Nigeria’s cycling team has delivered a commanding performance at the ongoing 2026 Confederation of African Cycling Championships in Abuja, winning multiple medals and topping the overall standings.
The Nigerian contingent secured a total of 16 medals, including nine gold, five silver and two bronze, to lead the medals table ahead of other participating countries such as Egypt, Kenya, South Africa and Algeria.
The championship, held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome, features elite cyclists from across the continent competing in both track and para-track events.
Home supporters were treated to impressive displays of speed, endurance and tactical brilliance as Nigerian riders dominated several categories across the competition.
Officials say the result further strengthens Nigeria’s growing reputation as a major force in African cycling, especially with strong performances from both male and female athletes.
Egypt finished second on the medals table with 14 medals, while Kenya placed third with nine.
