This followed the submission of petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission by the former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, ABDULMUMINI JIBRIN.
The embattled lawmaker at the centre of the storm also submitted a copy of his petition to the Department of State Service and the Nigeria Police High Command, all in Abuja.
JIBRIN is calling for investigations of the Speaker of the House, YAKUBU DOGORA and eleven other principal officers.
The lawmaker told newsmen at the office of the ICPC that investigation and prosecution of those found culpable would send a strong signal on the war against corruption by the APC Administration under President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.
But as the budget padding scandal continues to linger, other members of the House of Representatives remain sharply divided along the lines of the two sides.
There is also the argument about the legality of an independent investigation of the scam in view of the principle of separation of powers and the power of appropriation enjoyed by the legislature.
Two members of the House – SOLOMON BULUS from Plateau State and ABUBAKAR JIKA-ADAMU from Niger State – argued these points and other intrigues involved in the scam when they appeared jointly on a national television programme monitored in Port Harcourt.
