NDSF: Ondo, Imo share spoils in football event as Ondo wins first gold medal

Ondo State men’s football team at the ongoing Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF), on Thursday played 1-1 draw with their Imo State counterpart.

The match played at the Uyo Township Stadium was the first match of the men’s football event involving both states on the day one of the event.

The first match of the female football team ended in a 0-2 loss to Rivers State team after gaining three goals and three points against Edo team that were absent on match day one.

Also, Ondo State won its first gold medal by Tolu Ogundolie in the women’s 45kg class of the power para-powerlifting .

Boluwaji Akinnuwesi won silver medal in the men’s 60kg category of traditional wrestling

Meanwhile, Oluwafemi Sunday won silver medal in the men’s 100 metres Para- Athletics (men), while Ester Edema settles for bronze medal in women’s para-athletics 100 metres.

Speaking with newsmen the first gold medalist for the state, Tolu Ogundolie, said he was happy to have represented the state well.

Ogundolie said he believed the state would do well at the ongoing competition.

“I am happy that I did my state proud. We are going to win more medals in subsequent events to make our state proud,” he said.
