Less than twenty-four hours after the so-called Islamic State named AL-BARNAWI as the new leader of its Nigerian affiliate; the already well-known leader of Boko Haram, ABUBALAR SHEKAU has come out to denounce the pronouncement.

Reports have it that SHEKAU claims he is still in charge of the Boko Haram, as he accused ABU MUSAB AL-BARNAWI of trying to stage a coup.

The latest development is reportedly contained in a ten-minute audio message in both Arabic and Hausa, in which SHEKAU appeared to distance Boko Haram from the Islamic State group.

He however acknowledged ABU BAKR AL-BAGHDADI, but said some persons within Boko Haram had stopped him from communicating with the IS leader.

The last time a voice that claims to be SHEKAU was heard in an audio message was last August, in which he had dismissed reports that he was dead.
