Morocco’s football federation has announced plans to appeal sanctions imposed following unrest at the Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal. The team was fined and faced match bans after the chaotic conclusion to the tournament.

Morocco’s decision to contest the penalties highlights tensions that remain from the AFCON final, which saw Senegal crowned champions after extra-time. The appeal is expected to be lodged with CAF in the coming days.
