Kogi/Bayelsa poll: Police to deploy 45 staff monitors

A statement by the Head, Press and Public Relations of the Commission said forty five Staff Monitors; twenty for Bayelsa State and twenty five for Kogi State will be in the two States to benchmark the conduct of the Officers with approved rules of engagement for Police Officers on electoral duties and other relevant laws guiding such exercise.

The statement said cases of Police misconduct arising from the monitoring exercise will be investigated by the Commission and any Police Officer found guilty will be punished accordingly.

The PSC advised police officers to ensure that they operate within the law and should be professional in their conduct while remaining neutral and apolitical.

The statement quoted the Chairman of the Commission, MUSILIU SMITH as saying the monitoring exercise is derived from the constitutional mandate of the Commission to exercise disciplinary control over the police.
