Our correspondent gathered that the man was driving to work in the early hours of today when he was intercepted by gunmen around Aka junction, along the road to Rumuolumeni community.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that the kidnapper stormed Aka junction, shooting sporadically to scare away passersby before attacking the man.
Our source said the kidnappers had pretended to be policemen when they arrived at the junction, but their indiscriminate shooting drew the attention of other security operative who engaged them in a shootout, as they bid their escape.
In a related development, one MARACHI OKEREKE has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen from her residents at Rumuji community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Our correspondent gathered that the twenty-five-year-old woman is a teacher at Ibaa Comprehensive College.
Another teacher, who confirmed the incident, said MARACHI OKEREKE had relocated from Ibaa to Rumuji because of the frequent cult clashes a the community where she works.
Meanwhile; the spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, NNAMDI OMONI said the command was yet to be briefed on the kidnappings, but promised to pass the information to policemen on the field for intervention.
