This comes after a consultative meeting organised by Kenya’s education ministry where it was resolved not to order a national closure of schools following recent crisis that led to the burning down of a hundred secondary schools across the country.
The meeting, which was attended by religious leaders and teachers agreed that closing down schools would set a bad precedent.
Ministry officials say the school fires have been caused by a cartel allegedly behind examination mal practices which is protesting against stringent measures recently introduced to stop it.
At least one hundred and fifty students have been arrested in connection with the fires.
