Among the pardoned inmates is Rahama Husseini, the teenage girl convicted for allegedly killing her husband in 2015.
Spokesman of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, in a statement said the release was facilitated by the Presidential Committee on Correctional Centers Reform and Decongestion during their visit to the Kano Correctional Center.
Giving the breakdown of the figures, Gwandu said nineteen inmates were released through payment of fines by the Federal Ministry of Justice, three through payment of fines by the Buni Yadi Foundation and two after Policy Vault Africa made payment while seven were released due to old age.
He also disclosed that Husseini was granted State Pardon by the Governor.
Husseini,who is now twenty one was convicted at age fourteen after she was alleged to have been forcibly married off by her father and involved in a struggle with her late husband while attempting to consummate the marriage which led to his death.
