The Independent National Electoral Commission says nearly one million people registered during the first phase of the Continuous Voters Registration exercise in Rivers State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Gabriel Yomere, disclosed this in an interview, where he also commended the Inter Party Advisory Council for what he described as a massive and encouraging turnout.
Yomere hinted that the registration figure could rise further during the second phase of the exercise, noting that the commission is extending the process to homes and villages across the state to ensure wider participation.
