Ijaw Youth Council Urges Youth to Reject Politically Motivated Protest on June 12

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has cautioned youth in Rivers State to reject any attempts by certain politicians to mobilize them for protests scheduled for June 12.

Tamuno Kpokpo, the immediate past chairman of the IYC Eastern Zone, stated that the alleged organizers of the protest aim to link the demonstration to the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Kpokpo expressed concern that the protest sponsors seek to destabilize the peace currently enjoyed in the state.

He emphasized that with Governor Fubara’s suspension still in effect, he remains hopeful that the governor will return to office at the appropriate time, trusting that divine guidance will determine the timing of his reinstatement.

The IYC urged youth to focus on constructive activities and uphold peace, cautioning against being used as tools for political unrest.
