ICPC said due process was followed before and after OBLA’s arrest.

The Commission in a statement by its spokesperson, RASHEEDAT OKODUWA, said the clarification became necessary because of the questions raised by someone who said he was representing OBONO-OBLA on the legality of the arrest and treatment in detention.

The ICPC said since his arrest, his wife and family members have been granted access to see him, stating that the commission also arranged a vehicle to bring the wife from home to feed the former SPIP boss in detention.

OBONO-OBLA was arrested on March 20, 2020 by the commission after many months of his refusal to honour the invitations of the commission requesting him to appear for investigation on the allegations of sundry breaches of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and other allied criminal statutes.
