Gunmen Burn Down ADC Secretariat in Ikwerre, Shoot Sporadically Near Amaechi’s Family Home

Suspected armed thugs have reportedly set the Ubima Ward 8 Secretariat of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State on fire.

The attackers were also said to have fired shots sporadically at the gate of the family residence of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, without any intervention from local vigilante groups or security personnel.

The incident is coming as Amaechi, who is a South-South leader of the ADC, is expected to return to the area today for the party’s official registration activities.

Party members claimed this is the second attack targeting ADC members and properties, following an earlier disruption during a sensitisation exercise in Igwuruta community.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Charles Wobodo, has yet to comment on the incident, as some individuals have expressed concerns over security in the area.
