The complaints grew out of worries over the implication of the new polytechnic in the heart of the state capital in Port Harcourt and equally state-owned Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori in Khana Local Government Area.
During a visit to Bori, Governor WIKE reportedly promised to ensure the upgrade of facilities at Ken-Poly to facilitate the accreditation of more courses that would boost activities at the institution.
The Governor said the upgrade would state with workshops and laboratories facilities at the institution.
He also promised to establish a polytechnic in each of the three senatorial districts in Rivers State, but that would depend on the improvement of internally generated revenue of the state government.
Governor WIKE explained that the establishment of the Port Harcourt Polytechnic was not an attempt to rundown the Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic.
WIKE said those who share such view are his political opponents; stressing that he was interested in the development of Ogoni and other parts of the Rivers State.
The State Governor also used the occasion of his interaction in Bori to announced the confirmation of the appointment of the Acting Rector of Ken-Poly, Doctor ONENIYE -OFORI GEORGEWILL.
