Five persons have reportedly died in Ogoja, Cross River State, after a mini bus they were traveling in from Igoli to Abakpa plunged into a river. Eyewitnesses said the driver was the only person to escape before the vehicle sank.
Sources noted that the bridge and adjoining roads where the accident occurred are very narrow, despite ongoing renovations by the Cross River State government. The narrow space, coupled with a high volume of motorcycles, often causes congestion, which may have contributed to the tragic incident.
