FIFA Removes 388,000 Harmful Posts During World Cup

FIFA says its Social Media Protection Service has identified and acted on more than 388,000 harmful comments and posts since the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 11.

The world football governing body disclosed that over 3.8 million comments and posts linked to the tournament had been reviewed, with abusive content removed to protect players, teams and officials from online hate and discrimination.

FIFA noted that the figure has already surpassed the 287,000 harmful posts removed during the entire 2022 World Cup, underscoring its intensified efforts to combat online abuse in football.
