FG commiserates with South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe over floods

The Federal Government has expressed condolences to the governments and people of South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe over the loss of lives caused by recent devastating floods in parts of Southern Africa.

Reports indicated that as of Friday, the floods had claimed the lives of more than 100 people and displaced thousands following weeks of torrential rainfall that submerged communities and cut off several areas.

Weather services in the region have issued further alerts, raising concerns over the possibility of additional flooding in the coming days.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said the Federal Government commiserated with the affected countries over the extensive human and material losses resulting from the floods. The statement added that Nigeria stands in solidarity with the governments and people of the affected nations during this difficult time.
