A transparency and good governance advocate, Oby Ezekwesili, has alleged that the decision by the Senate of Nigeria to include certain provisos in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill is aimed at enabling the rigging of the 2027 general elections.
Ezekwesili made the remarks while speaking on the fourth day of an ongoing demonstration.
The former Minister of Education also renewed calls for the mandatory inclusion of real-time electronic transmission of election results in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, 2026, warning that ambiguities in the proposed legislation could undermine electoral transparency.
