Alhaji LAI MOHAMMED gave this indication contrary to the belief in certain quarters that there was no harmony in the relationship between the Federal Executive and the National Assembly.
The Information and Culture Minister made the observation when he received members of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, led by its Chairman, Senator ALIYU SABI ABDULLAHI, on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.
LAI MOHAMMED said for the spokesman of the Senate to want to meet the spokesman of the Government says a lot about trust, understanding and confidence between the two arms of government.
MOHAMMED said the visit will also show the world that the so-called feud between the Executive and the Legislative Arms of government is only the figment of the imagination of those who hold such view.
The Minister also used the opportunity of the meeting to announce that government plans to hold a summit on National Rebirth, Values and Ethics.
He said the summit will feature the launch of a National Re-orientation Campaign, with the theme: “Change Begins with Me.”
On his part; Senator ALIYU SABI ABDULLAHI stressed the need for greater value re-orientation as part of measures to overcome the challenges confronting the nation.
The Senator said as managers of the information and communication space of the two critical arms of government, there was need to proactively work to promote and canvass genuine and sincere actions anchored on rule of law, due diligence and due process.
The interaction between the Information Minister and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs was captured in a statement released by the Special Assistant to the Minister, SEGUN ADEYEMI.
