Dogara replies El-rufai,releases pay slips,other documents.

Details of the pay slips show that the Speaker’s average monthly earning stands at over three hundred and forty-six million naira, after statutory deductions.

 

 

Governor EL-RUFAI was reported to have claimed that the sum of one hundred and fifteen billion naira in the 2016 Budget was meant for the four hundred and sixty-nine members in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

 

 

But the Speaker of the lower chamber of the National Assembly said the claim by the Kaduna State Governor was misleading and intended to undermine and distract the legislature.

 

A statement released by the spokesman of the House quoted YAKUBU DOGARA saying he decided to release his pay slips from October last year to March this year in the spirit of transparency.

 

 

He said the said the 2016 Budget provision for the National Assembly covers, among others, salaries, allowances, expenditure and running cost of the four hundred and sixty-nine members, in addition to the salaries and allowances of about three thousand Legislative Aides.

 

 

DOGARA said the salaries, allowances, equipment and maintenance of about five thousand staff in the bureaucracy of the National Assembly are also covered by the one hundred and fifteen billion naira budget.

 

 

The statement signed by ABDULRAZAQ NAMDAS, also noted that agencies of the National Assembly, including the National Assembly Service Commission has a staff strength of about five hundred personnel, as well as the National Institute for Legislative Studies which is also a parastatal under the National Assembly.

 

 

It further noted that the leadership of the National Assembly has directed the Clerk to publish details of the National Assembly Budget for 2017.
