Residents of Nyande Community in Aleto Clan, Eleme Local Government Area, have appealed to the Federal, Rivers State and Eleme Local Government authorities for urgent intervention following devastating flooding that has submerged the community.
The residents blamed the disaster on poor drainage construction by the contractor handling the Eleme section of the ongoing federal road project.
Community leaders Bernard Paago, Mfon Antye and Lekooh said the flood had displaced dozens of families, destroyed homes and damaged valuable property.
They also appealed to the government at all levels to provide relief materials to affected families and take urgent steps to address the flooding.
