Dangote Petitions ICPC Over Alleged Corruption by NMDPRA Chief

Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has submitted a petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against the Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Ahmed Farouk.

In the petition, filed through his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja, SAN, Dangote urged the anti-graft agency to arrest, investigate, and prosecute the NMDPRA boss over allegations of corruption and living far beyond his legitimate means as a public servant.

The petition, which was received by the office of the ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu, SAN, accused Farouk Ahmed of allegedly spending more than seven million dollars on the education of his four children in Switzerland, said to have been paid upfront for a six-month period.

Dangote further alleged that Farouk Ahmed has grossly abused his office in violation of the provisions of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.

As of the time of filing this report, the NMDPRA and its Managing Director have not publicly responded to the allegations.
