A coalition of Civil Society Organisations in Rivers State has praised the leadership of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education for what it described as significant progress and stability in the institution. The groups said the university has remained focused and progressive under the administration of Vice-Chancellor, Okechukwu Onuchuku.
The coalition noted that since November 2021, the university has recorded improvements in infrastructure, academic delivery, and digital administration. According to the CSOs, these strides have strengthened the institution’s learning environment and enhanced its reputation within and outside Rivers State.
They highlighted the construction of new hostels, renovation of lecture halls, and upgrades of internal road networks as part of ongoing development efforts. The projects, they said, were executed in collaboration with the Rivers State Government and the Niger Delta Development Commission.
Speaking through its spokesman, Nasigba Peterside, the coalition also commended reforms introduced by the management, including the installment payment of school fees, improved result processing systems, ICT-driven registration, and efficient NYSC mobilization processes. The group further applauded the introduction of entrepreneurship programmes designed to enhance students’ employability and practical skills after graduation.
