According to the charges, GRACE AZIKWE, CONFIDENCE IHEANACHOR, LOVE ADUMO, EBERE UGUNNA, THERESA GANRIEL, KATE MUBANA, PATRICIA OLUJE and REGINA AKURU were alleged to have conspired to steal the child in a church in Wopara Street within Wimpy Junction, Rumueperikom community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
In count two of the charge, GRACE AZIKWE is accused of stealing the one year and four months old baby boy belonging to the Ige of Ogbaland, Eze CHINEDU NEBUGO-IGWE inside a church and sold him to REGINA AKURU at the sum of five hundred thousand naira.
Senior Magistrate, RITA OGUGUO who granted the accused bail after they pleaded not guilty, ordered that the surety for seven out of the eight suspects must be a level fifteen Civil servant and a Government recognized first or second class Traditional Ruler who must show prove of recognition and verified by the prosecutor while the surety for the remaining suspect must be a level fourteen civil servant and a clergy man.
Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that Senior Magistrate, RITA OGUGUO adjourned the matter to the 25th of February, 2020 for hearing.
The suspects were said to have been arrested by men of the Mile one Eagle Squad Crack of the Rivers State Police Command.
