The group known as Alliance for Transparency and Good Governance is alleging that political opponents of the Rivers State Administration are being hunted on trumped up charges.
In a statement signed by the coordinator of the group, ERASMUS OBELE-NWANKPA, the group expressed concern over what it described as unnecessary use of state powers to humiliate OJUKAYE FLAG-AMACHREE who according to it remains innocent until proven guilty.
The Civil Society Group called on the judiciary in Nigeria and President MOHAMMED BUHARI to monitor the activities of the judges in Rivers State particularly on the recent remand order made by Justice IYAYE LAMANKARA against the APC chieftain in his absence without plea.
According to the statement obtained by our correspondent, the group claimed that the action’s of the Chief Judge of Rivers State to hear and remand an accused person without the traditional criminal Justice rules of first taking plea on the charge, amounts to abuse of court process, breach of fundamental human Rights and injustice
