Our correspondent SANDRA KENNETH reports that the Rumuji youths yesterday staged a protest, blocking the NLNG Low Junction Terminal, in a bid to drive home their demand.

The Rumuji youths also expressed their anger over what they consider to be a hasty repair of the ruptured gas pipeline, which they claimed was done at night by officials of the company.

The leader of the protest and Chairman of Rumuji Community Development Committee, GODSPOWER NKOVUNDU threatened that they would continue to disrupt the operations of the company until their demands are met.

Also speaking; the Paramount Ruler of Rumuji, Eze CHRISTAIN OKACHINEKE called on the companies to teach communities inhabitants on how to deal with incidents of gas fire explosion, just like the experience of last week.

The Paramount Ruler made the call against the backdrop of the shocks suffered by some inhabitants following the explosion and vibrations due to the ruptured gas pipeline.

Our correspondent SANDRA KENNETH reports that the Rumuji demonstration was peaceful, with hundreds of people taking part.
