Our correspondent reports that popular roads and markets in Aba, including Ariaria International Market, as well as Saint Michaels Road, Faulks Road and Ngwa Road were all deserted.
CLEMENT UGOCHUKWU who resides in Aba told our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA in a telephone interview that there was strict compliance to the directive.
UGOCHUKWU also confirmed heavy security presence, with soldiers on patrol to avoid any breach of public peace.
The spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, NNAMDI OMONI confirmed the deployment of security personnel to forestall maintain law and order.
OMONI said the Police do not recognize any public holiday, apart from the one declared by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
