The Aviation Minister gave this indication when he appeared before the Nigerian Senate today, after the federal lawmakers rejected the total closure of the airport for six weeks.
Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the Minister told the Senators that their suggestion for a portion of the airport to remain in use while the maintenance work is carried out will not work because most of the aircraft that operate there are too big.
On the viability of the Kaduna Airport as alternative, he said train and executive bus services, would be provided in addition to helicopter shuttle, for air travelers to and from Abuja.
The Minister maintained that the Kaduna Airport has always served as alternate landing route for Abuja-bound flights.
However; HADI SIRIKI was asked to go but to return back to the Senate on Tuesday next week to explore further options to avert a total closure of the Abuja Airport.
